I'm doing much less with making bows these days, it's been mostly messing with my flight bow this year.
I tried it out today, with a massive tail wind and my shortest arrows 18.5" I also had some 20" but I bottled out of shooting them, as I was tired and nervy.
It was during the lunchtime break on our club rove, and two members watched me shoot and wandered down range looking for the arrows. They were querying how far I was walking, but eventually I spotted one and then the others (I only shot 4). It's hard to see them unil you have gone past or look sideways to see them, else you are just looking down the nock end of the shaft. They are painted florescent yellow, so once you are looking back they show up nicely.
Furthest I got was 398 yards which isn't bad but not up to my 417 yard PB. I noticed some cracking on the belly of one of the limbs so that one's pretty much had it.
Ha! Just realised, I measured 100yards to my mates van... shot over theop and then measure from the arrows back to the van... so I have to allow for the width of the van which has to be another 2 yards!
So that's 400 yards.
I need some really good sound Yew and Boo to make another pair. not sure when that will turn up, but maybe one day I'll get the quarter mile!
